A pacemaker should have saved oil and gas magnate Nathan Moore’s life. Instead, it provided his killer with a seemingly perfect means of execution.

A bombing at one of Nathan’s oil rigs days earlier indicates his death could be part of a bigger conspiracy, a web Special Agent Tori Templeton must untangle. But her first order of business is separating the personal from the professional—the victim’s wife, her best friend, is one of the FBI’s prime suspects.

Clearing Sally’s name may be the biggest challenge of her career, but Tori finds an unexpected ally in the newest member of the task force, recently reinstated Deputy US Marshal Cole Jeffers. As Tori and Cole dig deeper into Nathan’s personal and business affairs, they uncover more than they bargained for. And the closer they get to finding the real killer—and to each other—the more intent someone is on silencing them for good.

“This was truly an amazing, suspenseful read that can be held up as an example of what good Christian suspense should be.”

“DiAnn Mills' writing is evocative of an excellent crime show. Sharp and to the point. Just how I imagine law enforcement work, think and talk.”

“Mills' has captured the rush of adrenaline along with a good romance. Suspense and adventure are the real stars of this book.  Her motto is, "Expect an Adventure," and she achieves it in this book.”

In Christy Award winning DiAnn Mills' note to her readers, she says a couple of important things.  First, everyone has choices.  Second, "the gift of love is powerful."  She also ends with this statement: "Be blessed, my friends, and may your journey lead you to God."
I love that, just like I enjoyed her novel: "Deep Extraction," (an FBI Task Force Novel).  It delivers both the fun of the investigative mystery and the sentiments of her statements, and honestly, in my post-election-Facebook-implosion stupor, I was really in a place to receive the message of the book.

"Deep Extraction" involves several well fleshed out characters. First, there is Special Agent Tori Templeton, who has lost her brother to cancer and is unsure about God, but is sure of her calling to solve this murder.  Then there is her partner Max, who is on his last leg with lung cancer and his marriage. Next is "lawn man," Cole Jeffers, who is more than he seems and a Christian.  Then there is the victim, Nathan Moore, who gave me a lot to think about, as did several of the persons in his life who had reason to wish him harm.

The mystery was full of surprises and twists, turns, and excitement. The faith-based part of the book was kind and gentle, which was just right for me. Right enough, in fact, that I'm interested in reading more of Ms. Mills' books.  She has plenty to chose from, including the FBI series, which this book is a part of. I also notice that some of her books are on Audible, which is great because this is the type of book that is excellent to experience in that way.

If you've not tried a book like this before and are interested, I encourage you to check out this one.  If you have, this is a good series to get lost in.  Either way, enter the giveaway (below!) and put the book in your TBR list, and check out the author on her social media.  She seems to be the real deal and we are lucky to have her here in Texas.
Thank you, Ms. Mills, for the chance to read and review your book. Truly enjoyed it! Also, I love  your Pinterest page, so cool!
