When Saudi Prince Omar bin Talal visits Houston to seek cancer treatment for his mother, an attempt on his life puts all agencies on high alert. FBI Special Agent Kord Davidson is the lead on the prince’s protective detail because of their long-standing friendship, but he’s surprised—and none too happy—when the CIA brings one of their operatives, Monica Alden, in on the task force after the assassination attempt.
Kord and Monica must quickly put aside interagency squabbles, however, when they learn the prince has additional motives for his visit—plans to promote stronger ties with the US and encourage economic growth and westernization in his own country. Plans that could easily incite a number of suspects both in the US and in countries hostile to Saudi Arabia. Worse yet, the would-be assassin always seems to be one step ahead of them, implicating someone close to the prince—or the investigation. But who would be willing to commit high treason, and can Kord and Monica stop them in time?
“Compelling characters and a riveting plot that fits seamlessly with current events make this novel impossible to put down. Readers can count on being glued to the pages late into the night – as “just one more chapter” turns into “can’t stop now.”” – RT Book Reviews

Houston, Texas. A diverse, sprawling metropolis, a worthy city for an intense, faith based series about the FBI and their counterparts. It all springs to life in the 3rd of DiAnn Mills' HIGH TREASON, with an authentic tale of threat to a visiting Saudi prince and his family. Among the glitter of the inordinately wealthy, so true to Houston, this story of an FBI and CIA agent striving to come together for the good of all involved, come what may, is fast-paced and good escape, while making one think about deeper matters, such as trust, faith, family, death, choices and life.
I have not read the first book in the series, but I did read and enjoy the second, so that I was really looking forward to this next book. But I wasn't expecting this world, this acknowledgement of something so different from what most of us live in, and the respect that was purposefully given to the Saudis. I was very pleasantly surprised with the direction Mills took with this third offering, it is not your standard mystery and truly ramps up the series with the eye it casts to respect in diversity. After the Harvey disaster, the world got to see a little of what Houston, Texas is made of; I'm glad Mills' FBI novels shed even more light on the city.
Now, Monica is a female Christian CIA agent, which is three strikes against her to the people she is trying to protect. But her story is proof that one can be grace under fire, and respectful of others' beliefs and values, even while growing as a person and Christian, and while being one tough lady. I am really thankful for such a view point, it came at the perfect time for me, reminding me of something very fundamental to my faith. Honestly, it's these gentle reminders that make me such a fan of the faith-based novels that DiAnn Mills brings to us, to say nothing of the romance she always delivers.
